  🛂 What is the SARS Traveler Declaration?

  It’s a new program that includes a mandatory form every traveler needs to complete before entering South Africa. The form helps South African authorities track who is coming into the country for customs, health, and security checks.

   

  ⏰ When to Complete It:

  You must fill out the declaration in advance, ideally within 48 hours before your arrival in South Africa. This is usually done online through the official SARS website at the link below.

  📱 How It Works:

   Before your flight, you enter your personal details, travel info, and answer a few health and customs related questions.  After submitting, you receive a confirmation email or QR code that can be printed or saved to your phone.

   When you arrive at the airport in South Africa, you show this confirmation email or QR code during customs and immigration checks along with your passport. It speeds up the screening process and ensures your declaration is on file.

   

  🏁 At the Airport:

   Officials will verify your declaration against your passport and travel details.

   If all is in order, you proceed through customs.

   If any additional checks are needed, they will be conducted onsite.

   

  As mentioned, this is a brand new process for South Africa.  They are hoping that completing the form in advance will smooth your entry, help comply with health regulations, and avoid delays but there could be some confusion at the airport during the introduction phase.
