  • Why are the characters so basic?
    We want children of all ages to be able to draw our characters. We believe drawing, coloring, and other artistic ways of engaging our characters leads to a deeper connection and greater chance of each story’s messaging sinking in.

  • What is micro-iterative self publishing?

    We believe that cultural and societal issues change too quickly making it difficult for traditional children’s book publishing cycles(1-2 years) to stay relevant. Our microcycles starting from idea incubation on through digital publishing can take as little as 14 days for our children’s books.

  • Are you concerned about editing, grammatical errors, etc.?

    We of course strive for editing excellence, but our primary objective is to churn out new concepts and story lines that are frequent, relevant, and impactful. This comes at risk that there may be unseen errors. We depend on our iterative crowd editing to optimize books after their initial release.

  • Are the books targeted by ages or reading levels?

    We currently do not segment our books based on age or reading capability. We target adults as much as the children with our messaging and encourage parents to read our books together with their children.

    We lean in on our parent readers to offer content, editing, grammatical suggestions. We believe that when supporters feel a sense of ownership by contribruting in the aforementioned ways the adults feel more connected to our books as well.

  • Your books seem to speak to adults as much as the children?

    We do our best to challenge and help both the parents and children grow. Parenting is the most important job we have as human beings, while also being a job we are often least prepared for. So our books are designed to start a conversation and dialogue.

  • Why are most of your digital books free?

    We want everyone in the world to experience the stories and messages we are sharing regardless of socioeconomic or geographic situations. We often support these free version of the books with carefully designed product placement within the story lines. Our brand partners are socially oriented and thougthful organizations(for profit & non profit) who feel a greater responsibility to their mission than profit making.

  • You seem to encourage the premium subscription boxes?

    We see our readers as a community. So a subscription allows a sense of connection. Our boxes also encourage more engagement with our storylines by including songs, animations, coloring books, stickers, t-shirts, and access to our Zag the Zonkey Facebook group. So we aren’t just writing books, we are building a community where parents can share around cultural and societal issues in a supportive environment. Our subscriptions are fantastic gifts whether you have kids or not. Give them to children of family or friends?

  • Tell us more about your Team Building and Fundraising for school or universiy groups & teams of all ages, etc?

    Yes, instead of Girls Scout cookies, magazines, popcorn, etc we come in with an efficient build a book team building process. Its a fantastic way for teams/groups to connect, definie values, generate ideas, learn to collaborate and lead, present ideas, and come to consensus. For teams that want to sell their book, we then have a marketing segment which guides them through a fundraising strategy to maximize their reach and return. Learn more here.

  • Tell us more about your Corporate Team Building?

    Our staff is made up of elite former professional, national, and NCAA coaches who spent their careers motivating and developing high performing teams. We come into corporate environments in a 4 hour segment where we define values, engage in small group competitive brainstorming, idea presentation, collaboration and content development, and consensus building with the objective of creating a unique children’s story that speaks to those with the corporation.
